Signs of the end times

Jesus said, “Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. And there will be great earthquakes in various places, and famines and pestilences; and there will be fearful sights and great signs from heaven.” Luke 21:10-11.

The signs of the end times show us that the earth has reached the last days. We are the last generations of mankind. God said in the end He would destroy those who destroy the earth. Now just look at what is happening to this world. In times past, man could not do much damage to the earth. But today, the world is being "destroyed" through war, industry, chemical pollution, oil pollution, and depletion of forests and so on. We are living in a time like no other before us, and God is soon to visit His judgments up this world! We can’t simply put a date for the second coming of Jesus because no one knows except our God in Heaven. But we can know when the end is near by referring to the Bible. Let’s take a woman for example.

When a woman is pregnant, she knows the time of delivery through birth signs. Sometimes the baby comes out early before her due date. As a woman gets nearer to birth, the birth pangs become intense. It’s the same as the earth. We are now living through the birth pangs. Signs of war, disasters are all over the place. But throughout history we have seen the "pangs" (signs) become more frequent and intense, culminating in the day we live in now where the pangs are so frequent and intense that we must be right at the time of "delivery", when Jesus is to return. So don't let anyone fool you into believing that the signs today are just the beginning of sorrows and the end is not yet. The signs have been right in front of us all the time. Lets browse through events that have already occurred and more is yet to come.

False Prophets and Christ

Matthew 24:5 “For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many.” Today we have many false religions proclaiming many ways to eternal life, like Roman Catholicism, Islam, Hinduism, Buddhism, Sikhism, Folk Religions, Wicca, and many other 'new age' movements. There were 21 public religious figures in the 20th century that claimed to be Jesus. Some of the more famous individuals to recently claim deity were David Koresh, Jim Jones, and Marshall Applewhite.  Each of these men made headlines for bringing about the violent & tragic end to their followers.

Wars

Matthew 24:7 “You will be hearing of wars and rumours of wars. See that you are not frightened, for those things must take place, but that is not yet the end”. The beginning of sorrows started nearly 2000 years ago with the persecution of the early church and the destruction of Jerusalem. We are living at the end of time. During the 20th century alone, more people have been killed as a result of wars like World War I, World War II, Russian Civil War, Congo War, Korean War, Vietnam War, Iraq, etc. Till date we still hear about wars taking place around the world.

Famine

Matthew 24:7 "For nation will rise against nation and kingdom against kingdom, and in various places there will be famines and earthquakes.” Current graphs clearly show an alarming worldwide trend of increasing earthquake strength and frequency. These results are in agreement with the USGS statistics page, which shows an increase in the frequency of stronger earthquakes (M > 5.0). Thousands die everyday of starvation and failed crops throughout the world because of extreme weather, and massive birds’ death in massive numbers.

Tribulations

Matthew 24:8-9 "But all these things are merely the beginning of birth pangs. Then they will deliver you to tribulation, and will kill you, and you will be hated by all nations because of my name.”  Christians were being killed for their faith in the first century, as well as during the dark ages when the Roman Catholic Church ruled the world and killed tens of millions of God's people. This is being repeated today in places like Iraq, Iran, China, North Korea, Pakistan, India, Nigeria, and Egypt, where many Christians are being killed for their faith in Christ Jesus everyday. 

The Gospel will be preached throughout the World

Matthew 24:14 "This gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all the nations, and then the end will come.” God's people are preaching the true gospel throughout the world like never before, through the internet, TV and satellite, radio, in the pulpit, and through print.

 Christians Turn Away From Truth

Timothy 4:3-4 'For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; and they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.' Christians today do not study the bible but they rely on the preaching of the gospel. The above end time sign from Timothy also says that they would be turned unto fables such as rapture, Israel fulfilment of the end time prophecy, mark of the beast, battle of Armageddon and many more.
